[REVIEW & GIVEAWAY] HoneyTreePost Junior Stationery Box

As you know, we love stationery boxes here at Stationery Lovers and when HoneyTreePost told us that they had one especially for junior stationery fans we were eager to get our hands on it and see what the contents were.

Honeytree Post Junior Stationery Box, Stationery Lovers,

This stationery box is ideal for the young stationery enthusiast. You can read more about it here and we think that is this the only stationery box designed just for children..  The one we sampled was Autumn and Halloween themed with lots of stickers, postcards, cards and even a letter writing set to encourage them to write to their friends or relatives - especially those all-important "thank you" notes after birthdays and Christmas.  It's lovely is it to receive a letter that's not a bill or a circular though the post these days - and how rare too!

HoneyTree was set up in 2008 and currently boast over 50,000 customers.  HoneyTreePost was launched in September 2015 and for each subscription box sell, £1 is donated to the PostPals 'extra smiles' charity campaign. Their monthly subscription services are a great idea to either ensure that your stationery stock is fully replenished each month or would make a fantastic gift for someone either as a one-off box or as a gift-that-keeps-on-giving type of present.

We have two of the junior stationery boxes for our readers in a flash giveaway.  This is going to be a short and sweet giveaway to ensure that you get this Autumn themed box for your young stationery fan.  To enter please follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter widget below and GOOD LUCK!

Stationery Box Subscriptions

Over the past few months we have been dipping into a few stationery subscription boxes. If you have never heard of these before, let us explain.  Subscription boxes are stuffed full of stationery-related goodies, can cost between £10 and £20 (plus postage) per box and are delivered on a monthly basis.  You will usually find that stationery subscription boxes are created by people who themselves love stationery, therefore know what you will love to receive. With a little help from two of our stationery-loving friends, we've selected the best of the best to give you a taster.

Ink Drops Ace Selection Box - £15.95 per month inc shipping

Created by two friends and stationery lovers, Ink Drops have been producing monthly subscription boxes since 2012. They offer a range of services from a rolling subscription to one-off box purchases, each one containing a selection of fresh and exciting delights to satiate your stationery addiction.

The boxes usually sell out, so I recommend a three-month or rolling subscription so that you don't miss out. You can use Paypal checkout so the subscriptions really are fuss free and you can cancel at any time.

Boxes ship around the 14th of the month and you must order before the 7th of the month to get that month's box.

Here's April's box to tantalise and tease!

[Items: Vintage suitcase card (with envelope), A4 geometric soft-cover notebook, alphabet paper bags, a dinosaur card (with envelope) and 2 meters of ribbon (purple, sage)]

The BrimblesBox - £15 per month + P&P

Anna Brim (known in the stationery community as "Mrs Brimbles") created the #BrimblesBox subscription service in January 2015. Anna is a mixed-media artist and fellow Filofax lover therefore her stationery subscription boxes always have a Filofax 'dashboard' (a divider/page marker) which has been created from a piece of her original artwork. There is also an alternative option if you aren't a Filofax user.

Each month you receive a shoe-box sized package full of stationery goodies that always follow a theme; February was the month of love, March had a Spring/Easter theme, April was full of clouds, showers and ducks. Each box has a minimum value of around £15-20 and will contain various stationery items, a lot of which are sourced from Etsy stores in the UK which is something I love - supporting small, home-grown businesses.

Have a look at the unboxing videos on my YouTube channel and see why I look forward to receiving this happy mail each month.

[Items: Personal Filofax dashboard (original artwork), 50 page To-Do list, felt stickers, biro, squared paper A6 notebook, 'thank you' notlets (set of 5 with envelopes), 10 narrow rolls of washi tape, handmade bookmark, page marker paperclip, planner/keyring charm, set of stamps, squeaky rubber duck]

Paperhaul - £10 per month + P&P

Reviewed by Adam Blaine

As far as stationery subscription boxes go I look for a box full of things that I can really use and make it worth spending money on. When I came across the monthly #PaperHaul subscription that box was ticked.

Theres no fuss or hassle with their subscriptions either, you can stop whenever you like! It generally comes with a roll of washi tape (seriously, you can  never have enough rolls of washi), gift tags, mini notecards, single stickers, a sheet of stickers, double sided craft paper and full size greetings cards. (Notecards and greetings cards all come with an envelope).

Check out my unboxing videos on my YouTube channel here to see what this year's boxes have come with. Each item and box has a variety of design styles - did I mention that the boxes are themed?. April's box, retailing at £10, had the most adorable balloon theme!!  But everything is fun and most importantly made of high quality materials, which for me, quality alone justifies the price. For anyone who loves sending happy mail or just hoarding paper goods for your own paper stash, #PaperHaul is the box for you!

[Items: 1 roll of washi tape, 3 craft gift tags, 3 mini notecards (with envelopes), 2 large stickers, 1 sheet of 16 stickers, 3 postcards, 2 double-sided sheets of craft paper (6" x 6"), 2 greetings cards (with envelopes)]

Happy Paper Club - £10 per month + P&P

Reviewed by Nicki Cawood

If you are looking for something to get your stationery gears grinding then this box of paper-related goodness popping through your letterbox each month could be just what you've been looking for.

The Happy Paper Club launched at the beginning of March 2015 with a limited number of boxes and sold out within hours. There are currently three subscription choices, with all receiving the same box contents. Choose from a one-off or gift box for £12.95 a month, a £10 a month rolling subscription or a six month subscription for £60. All of these include postage and packaging.

A new box is "released" on the first of the month so you have to be quick, although those on a rolling subscription don't need to do anything other than simply wait for their goodies to arrive (around the 18th of the month).

What you get in the box is a number of paper related products, some from The Green Gables website and some specially designed pieces by Gabrielle, the owner of and creative mind behind the Happy Paper Club and The Green Gables. The box promises to deliver at least double the value of the price you pay and the first box certainly delivered that with a an array of paper-related goodies including notecards, an inspirational mini print, a notebook, a notepad and more.

If what you crave is a box of paper-related joy through your door every month this is a great find and offers excellent value for money.

[Items: A typewriter "thank you" card (with envelope), Happy Post Day stickers, a pencil, a mini print, Wildflowers, a weekly meal planning pad]

Recent Stationery Haul

In our never-ending quest to bring you recommendations of the best stationery products out there, we are pleased to announce a collaboration with National Stationery Week in 2015. Today we are featuring some of their sponsor's products.

Nu offer a wide range of notebooks. We sampled the Studio Journal which is slightly larger than A5 size and has lined paper and the smaller A7 size notebook which also holds lined paper and flips open like a policeman's notebook.  In both books the paper is quite thin so will work well with biro and the covers are very sturdy. This brand sits in the value range of products and can be found stocked on Amazon or at Staples.

The Sheaffer Sagaris fountain pen would make a perfect gift for that stationery lover in your life as it comes presented in its own gift box with two ink cartridges.  The flexible nib is available in fine or medium grade and coming in two-tone polished stainless steel with 22k gold plate highlights.

The concept behind the staple-less stapler and the viewing screen for the mechanism inside this nifty little accessory makes using it so much fun. The stapler cuts the paper in a specific way that negates the need for metal staples which also makes it environmentally and child friendly. Have a look at our video which shows you how it works.

Zebra Pen

Zebra Pen have been producing high quality writing instruments since 1897 in Japan. We've been trying out their Z-Grip Smooth range which, as you can see, is full of bright colours and fun barrel styles. They are great for both kids and adults to use and we have a bundle of eight of these pens to give away on this blog next week so stay tuned!

National Stationery Week is from 27th April to 3rd May in 2015 with World Stationery Day falling on 29th April.  National Stationery Week is aimed at 'getting Britain writing' so we will be bringing you more news and updates over the next couple of months.

Hard Work Notebook

We aren't shy in admitting that we have a bit of a problem when it comes to notebooks. I currently have a cupboard full of them, all waiting to be written in and I know that Nickie is the same.

My biggest problem is that despite my book love, I'm actually really stuck in my ways when it comes to putting pen to paper. My hardcore, addiction means that I can't leave TK Maxx without a new notebook to add to my collection, especially at sale time.

Then I discovered the Kickstarter project for the Hard Work Book. I paid my money and duly forgot about it. If you like to invest in these fab crowd funded projects, you really do have to let go because it can be months, many months before the product is produced.

Hard Work Notebook

Just after christmas my Hard Work Book arrived. What can I say? I was blown away.

This A5 Hard Work Book is a robust hardback notebook with an easy to use isometric and golden ration print guide on the 256 internal pages. A flexible fabric covered spine allows you to open the book flat on any page.
The 20mm thick paper is made from stone, making it waterproof and suitable to use with marker pens.

I really do think that this is the ultimate Bullet Journaling notebook, the only problem that I have is that it's so awesome that I can't bring myself to write in it!

The Hard Work Book is available from Hundred Million for just £9. Every Stationery Lover needs this in their life.

National Handwriting Day

23rd January is National Handwriting Day and we are celebrating the scrawl and the scroll. Handwriting features prominently in history with letter writing between people of importance, signatures on declarations and important documents, notes sent secretly between star-crossed lovers and classic books written originally in longhand before being sent to print.

As Stationery Lovers, we are huge fans of handwriting. We say that handwriting is a form of art as it is individual to the person who produces it.  On a computer, you are using a font that thousands of other people are using at the same time yet your handwriting is completely unique.

We want to know if you still write regularly? Do you just scribble notes as reminders or do you set aside a period time each day to write in a journal? Does one of your friends have handwriting that you adore to look at?

Whilst you are pondering on that, look at this glorious wallpaper we found on the Graham & Brown website. It's called 'Dreams Come True' and doesn't it make you want to sit in that chair and trace over the loops and swirls with your finger?

What's So Wonderful About Washi?

Washi Tape - numbers and letters

Washi tape is the stationery and craft accessory you never knew you needed.  Until now!

Washi tape is of Japanese origin, made from fibres from trees and shrubs but also from bamboo and rice which gives it a paper-like feel.  It is sticky (think: post-it notes) but repositionable and is mainly used for scrapbooking, smash books and to decorate pages of diaries and notebooks,

However... if you browse the craft boards on Pinterest you will find so many more ways in which to use washi tape including gift wrapping, mobile phone decoration and plenty of ways in which to use it around the house, e.g. wire labelling.  There are hundreds more ideas out there - just search 'washi tape ideas' on Pinterest and be sucked into the vortex.

washi tape - green

We went on a washi tape journey of discovery in 2014. Washi tape isn't expensive, especially if you know where to look (Etsy and Amazon are our favourite haunts) and there is so much choice; every colour under the rainbow and every pattern imaginable. Did you know that you can watch YouTube video after video after video of people decorating their Filofax or notebook pages?

We'd love to know what your best washi tape buys have been and what you have done with your washi tape. Feel free to share in the comments, on our Facebook page or tweet us a picture.
